Jonathan Blum
|
Jonathan Blum is a well-known painter on the Provincetown art scene
where he has had both solo and group exhibitions dating back to 1988.
He gained his reputation for the manner in which he painted famous people
from the eyes to the top of their head. He states, "I can trace my
painting career back to a cartoon I created for Stuff magazine in Boston
in 1986. The cartoon depicted a foreheada caricature of my own face
from the eyes up. From there I started painting "forehead portraits"..."
He has moved beyond that "cartoon element" and now focuses not
only on real people's forehead and full face portraits but also imaginary
people, historical figures, animals and, as he says "until 1998,
Sesame Street's Bert." [more]
