Brian Larkin |
Somewhere on the way to finishing this body of work, it occurred to me that I had an ability to extract a subject from reality and draw or paint it as if it were the only thing in the world. The "lonely look," I suppose comes from the solitude of Race Point on the outer Cape where I often do much of my work and itís a look that I share in common with other artists in Provincetown. I don't think there is anything particularly special about the look, but it does define one's artistic vision. While the sand dune landscape provides endless inspiration it also seems to internalize emotions that emerge perhaps later in another place.
