Alan Morehouse |
Alan Morehouse, a graduate of Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, NY, creates sculpture in exotic woods, bronze and mixed media. His work reveals a softness and sensuousness of form that impells the viewer to reach out and touch. His inspirations are often non-specific representions of natural species, and expression of insights which are universal in nature. "When I carve and shape my work, I emphasize the sculpture's movement in negative space, its interaction with the environment. This approach is inspired by an awareness of the natural world and the awareness of the inseparable interplay between positive and negative space. Like the black and white of the Yin & Yang symbol, we are inextricably bound to mother earth, parts of the same whole." |
